Portwell瑞传科技创立于民国八十二年一月。

成立之初，Portwell瑞传科技定位于「以发展个人计算机技术为基础，整合通讯与计算机的运用」，民国八十二年开发了第一部兼具语音与传真功能的调制解调器。

然而，随着网络的兴起，Portwell瑞传科技基于市场需求变化，于民国八十四年将公司产品定位，从客户端转向企业端，开始全力开拓工业计算机的研发与销售。在过去的十年来，凭恃其领先同业的市场趋势掌握，创新之研发设计能力，优良的产品质量及专业之技术支持等竞争优势，深获客户肯定外，民国八十八年更经Intel评选为其全球九大应用计算机平台供货商(IACPP)成员之一，其中亚太地区仅入选两家，在相互成为策略伙伴基础下，更增添本公司设计研发及营销实力，成为全球主要的应用计算机平台供货商之一。

Portwell瑞传科技拥有广泛而齐全的产品线可满足客户在电讯、医疗设备、工业自动化、国防及生活自动化市场上的不同需求，主要产品计有工业计算机整合应用服务、网络通讯整合应用服务、垂直市场整合应用服务、工业用平板计算机应用服务…等产业计算机产品。除此之外，Portwell瑞传科技在2001年成功推出支持6个以太网络端口的高功能网际网络应用硬件平台，成为网络通讯应用之典范。

Portwell瑞传科技早于1998年就提出Non-PC的观念，而此观念在几年后之今日已演变成为目前业界发展的主流。事实也证明，在后PC时代，Portwell瑞传科技可以充分发挥的领域无远弗届；申言之，只要是非PC用途之计算机相关产品都是Portwell瑞传科技的开发范围，因此未来市场需求潜力有极大想象空间，诸如先进医疗系统、高功能半导体制造设备、因特网防火墙、防毒服务器、ATM(高功能自动提款机)及先进通讯系统等等。

In November 2005, Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs honored Portwell for its Clean Production Project and commitment to environmental conservation.
